Week 10 The online you is the new/old you
Job searching is not as easy as it was years ago. As technology has evolved over decades so has the idea of job searching. Apps such as LinkedIn and resumenaker.com are the new job searching. Decades ago resumes were as simple as bringing in a piece of paper that could determine the rest of your career. LinkedIn is now the new "Job Interview" companies look at. Now Resumes are made online and turned in with thousands of other applications. Online is used every day and every second of every day. A simple search finds out more about an individual. When a job company searches for an employee's name they can find their social media platforms, network sharing, etc.
Many people say it and others don't believe it but what you post in the past will always come back up in the future. The main goal is to be private and professional. Having social media is not illegal but when it comes to posting it is important to realize who will these now and in the future. You should always be careful with what you post or share being politics, quotes, or statements, as well as selfies or group pictures. Social media gives people the opportunity to make their accounts private and that is something everyone should do because you can approve or decline who can follow you to view your videos and pictures. When it comes to the professional standpoint it is a smart idea to create another life during work hours. Make another account so you can simply follow and interact with proficient accounts, organizations, and exceptionally high- level and civic-minded accounts, only posting positive messages and utilizing these accounts for organizing and job-hunting purposes. But be sure, your other accounts could be found and might make a small contact.
